THE #BARS WORKSHOP
New Season of Free Masterclasses Goes Digital
The #BARS Workshop is a lab series created by Rafael Casal and Daveed Diggs. #BARS will go digital in October 2020 with Rafael Casal, Daveed Diggs, and Chris Walker hosting monthly online masterclasses with incredible guest artists that will be free and open to the public. Leading up to each masterclass, the #BARS team will release creative prompts on social media so that #BARS can continue to serve as a space for artists to investigate the intersection between contemporary verse and theater while we’re all creating and learning from home. Rafael Casal
Rafael Casal debuted in the acclaimed “Blindspotting,” in which he wrote, produced and starred. Premiered at Sundance and Lionsgate won a major bidding war. In production as Showrunner for the Series adaptation for Starz. Seen opposite Hugh Jackman in the Emmy-winning HBO film “Bad Education” and Ethan Hawke in Showtime's “The Good Lord Bird.” Wrote music for the Apple series “Central Park” and writing and composing for season 2.
Daveed Diggs
Tony and Grammy Award winning actor, rapper and producer Daveed Diggs is widely known for originating the dual roles of Thomas Jefferson and Marquis de Lafayette in the Broadway sensation, HAMILTON. He can currently be seen starring in Showtime’s “The Good Lord Bird.” His fifth album with experimental hip-hop group “Clipping” was released on October 23rd. In December, he will star alongside Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey in Pixar’s SOUL for Disney+. In January 2021, his hit TNT series “Snowpiercer” returns for Season 2, where he stars opposite Jennifer Connelly.
